I think the most possible thing could have happened to anyone who works with their hands. I don’t know if it’s tennis elbow or what but for the last 3 weeks my elbow and arm have hurt and nothing seems to be helping. It’s my left but then I am left-handed. I realized when picking up a box of crackers with my left arm was causing shooting pain in my elbow, it’s time to actually go to the doctor. So tomorrow I’ll get this checked out. Hopefully something can be done more than just live with it.

I’ve manage to catch up by making another pair of earring yesterday. These are a change from my usual work since I don’t usually, if ever use molds. But I have wanted to try Christi’s Swellegant Copper and using a mold seemed right for something that is supposed to be metal.

After making the polymer clay part, I covered them with the metal coating (it is actually copper) and then the treatment to antique it to bring out a green patina. It was a change for me using molds but then why join a challenge if not to try new things.

If you like these earrings, I have them in my shop here, soon I’ll going to have to make a separate section just for earrings

I got a little behind, since this is actually week 3, don’t worry I’ll catch up. I had a hard time thinking of what to make. Something clever, sleek, stylish just wasn’t. I wasted a lot of clay trying to make canes to come up with something – note to self- try to learning to do decent canes. Finally I just stopped trying to force it and these earrings just practically made themselves.

These ice is pink and fluffy and I made sure to add a real cakey texture. These earring would be the perfect cute touch for a birthday or anytime you want a little pink. If you like them, you can find them in my Artfire shop here.

I decided to join the 52 earring challenge, making one pair of earring each week for a year. I decided to start with some faux jade beads made of polymer clay in a simple drop earring. Sadly the faux jade doesn’t show up well in the picture as in person. They are highly buffed and very shiny.

I’ve seen this challenge around and decided to take it up. If you like to make things why not join the challenge? They don’t have to be made from polymer clay, just be earrings. It was set by Anke Humpert on flickr, to make 52 pairs of earrings a year.

Steampunk is all about mixing old tech with new tech. What is more appropriate for that aging up a flash drive? I created a industrial corset laced pattern with a bronze finish. It looks like almost seems like two sheets are metal are laced together. I used mica powders for a shimmery look with a touch of green for a tarnished look. It has aged and worn texture overall.

As industrial as the finish is, my worn tends to have a more organic feel to it. I’m no good at hard edges or straight lines so I decided to make the best of it. It is more like dented and worn through long use than strictly industrial.

I started with a 4GB new flash drive. I tested several to be sure a flash drive can handle being baked. They really are quite sturdy. The steampunk flash drive is the fist of what I hope will be a long line of drives.

Easter is truly a time of rebirth, new life and starting a new. Well yes and of pretty pastels and eggs, chicks, bunnies and pretty flowers. And peeps!

Just skimming through Artfire to find some polymer clay Easter. This Collectible Easter egg by KaelMijoy. It looks like those plastic beads you melt but it is actually made using polymer clay dots she textured. I can’t help looking at this and just admiring the intricacy of it.

And from Easter eggs, baby chicks are just a step away. HarrisonHollowDesigns‘s adorable chick garden stake is the perfect decoration for your flowers. It is a funky yellow and orange with dangly legs. To me it is the perfect chick to have hatched from this egg. I love the orange swirls and green dots on this chick it just looks so springy

Chick by HarrisonHollowDesigns

Then comes the Easter bunny to fill all the Easter baskets with candy. This cute set of 5 bunnies by me, FantasyClay are five times the fun. The colors are sweet and delicate but the bunnies look a little demented. they are only abut inch tall so they make a perfect decoration for your desk or an extra treat for everyone.

Easter Bunnies by FantasyClay

Then the Easter bunnies bring the peeps. Peeps more than anything else scream Easter. Actually they are best when they are a little stale. FyrestormCreations made a set of Peeps stitch markers. These are just too cute. They are mini peeps what else can I say! I can almost taste the sugar and marshmallow.

The Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild on Artfire always full of inspirations. The warmer weather is making the flowers bloom and the pink dogwoods look so lovely. I took at the Smooshers and saw those same pinks of spring bursting out there too.

I love the delicate flowers and signs of spring. I especially like the RosyWriters, it would be like having spring in my hands all year long, every time I scribbled a note. I’m still better with a pen than a keyboard.

This is my first attempt at this – I used bronze and silver to make a battered heart. I keep hearing Rod Stewart singing this old heart of mine…

I think I need to work on this a little more but for now this will look great on an antique bronze chain until I figure out my next step.

This cake topper was really fun to make. Like I said, my customers come up with the best ideas. This one was actually requested by the groom’s mother, poor guy he is in trouble. She wanted a wrestling cake topper but wanted the bride taking down the groom. After some exchange, I got an idea of what she wanted – the bride really taking the groom down.

I loved the idea and the challenge of doing something different and an action pose. I hope this groom knows what he is for. If you want a cake topper that really shows off your style, check out my custom cake toppers here.
